The Other Half of My Weekend (Or, Anniversary Dinner at Copper Kitchen)

Aside from all the excitement of Lilly for Target, my hubs and I celebrated our 12th (!) Anniversary! Here is what I wore:

Pants are Skinny Minnie from Lilly Pulitzer, Top is the Dusk Top in Worth It from Lilly Pulitzer, shoes are last summer from J. Crew, and the motorcycle jacket and clutch are from Banana Republic.

We went and saw a silly movie, and then went to dinner at Copper Kitchen, which is part of the Copper Onion family of restaurants. Oh my goodness guys. This was SO good. We shared the house-cured olives to start, followed by Steak Frites (so tender and flavorful!), and ended with the chocolate torte with candied hazelnuts and house-made espresso ice cream. To. Die. For. There were moans and groans of food ecstasy to be had throughout! Add in some wine and cocktails, and remembrances of all the funny things that happened when we have traveled to Europe, and it was just such a great evening. It’s days like that which help keep in perspective what life is all about – it’s about living and spending time with your loved ones, eating good food, and sharing great memories while making new ones. And having FUN! (Speaking of fun, we were too caught up in the ambience to take pics… #sorrynotsorry)

The restaurant itself was great. I loved the decor and the layout of it. We sat at a little two-top by the prep station (Copper Kitchen has an open kitchen) which a lot of people might not like because it is small and busy, but we loved it for the sake of easy viewing of the goings-on within the kitchen. So cool! The service was great – we never had to worry about things moving too fast or too slow, and our waiter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I think this restaurant, though, is more a place for people who really appreciate food and all that goes into it, which we do, and is why we had such a great experience. There were some negative reviews on Yelp, but now having been there I can see that it is because they are less knowledgeable about the best way to order their steak, for example, or don’t appreciate that Copper Kitchen is clearly from the imagination of a chef, as opposed to a corporate driven owner that doesn’t let the executive chef have very much say.

Anyway, GO! And order your steak rare! 😇

Happy 12th anniversary! The steak place sounds delish…I too like to sit near open kitchens so I can watch what’s going on! I like my steak well-done but can appreciate a good rare one!
    Cheers!!!
